Morning and afternoon buses to serve Bournemouth Airport from Poole - thanks to Yunex partnership with Morebus

Workers and visitors to Bournemouth Airport will now have access to a dedicated bus service from Poole

The YX1 service begins on Monday 24 August, and is the result of a partnership between Morebus and local business Yunex Traffic - which will soon be moving from its site on Sopers Lane to a new, larger, facility at Aviation Business Park.   

“We will be providing a morning and afternoon bus service, under contract to Yunex Traffic, which has been specifically designed to transport the company’s team members to-and-from its new site and the airport,” said Morebus general manager, Richard Wade. “However, the YX1 will be open to anyone who wishes to board - with the full range of Morebus tickets available.

“Many of those working for Yunex Traffic live within the Poole area, so we will be running the route from Poole Bus Station to the Aviation Business Park and Bournemouth Airport - via Hamworthy, Upton, Creekmoor, Broadstone and Canford Heath. We believe this service will also benefit many other local residents who work at the airport.

“This investment from Yunex Traffic opens up the airport and Aviation Business Park to those who don’t have cars, as well as enabling workers who do have cars, to opt for sustainable transport instead. 

“The move also means more people in the Poole area will have the opportunity to seek employment at the airport - which can only be a good thing for businesses and the local community.

“We are aware of feedback from those living within our region, who are keen for an enhanced dedicated bus service to Bournemouth Airport. Our partnership with Yunex Traffic, which has resulted in the YX1 service, is an excellent step towards this - and will benefit many of those living and working here.

“There is much to consider when introducing a new route, including whether the level of demand will justify the investment. We continue to work with partners and stakeholders to explore viable opportunities for the future.”

The YX1 service runs Monday to Friday. It leaves Poole Bus Station at 6.36am, arriving at Aviation Business Park at 7.30am, and at Bournemouth Airport at 7.39am. 

During the afternoon, the YX1 leaves Aviation Business Park at 4.18pm, arriving at Poole Bus Station at 5.35pm.
