We recently reached out to St Michael's Primary School via our Community Fund, to provide help for local families who need transport to-and-from food banks within the area.

Many parents of pupils at the school use the buses and don’t have cars to travel here or to food banks. At the moment, there are no food banks local to their area, so when we hand out food vouchers, families must travel by bus to Boscombe to pick up their items - which is an extra cost.

They applied to our community fund, to see if we could help with bus travel, and we decided to donate £250 worth of tickets, which parents can download with a special code on our app.

“This will make a huge difference to families who are already struggling to feed themselves. It will mean they will be able to access the food bank without having to find extra money to pay for the bus.” said Anthony Evans headteacher at St Michael's Church of England Primary School.

Richard Wade, Morebus general manager, added: “We were pleased to choose St Michael’s Primary School as a recipient of our community fund - which is donated to those improving the quality of life of those living in the areas where we operate.

“We’re determined to build close relationships with local charities, organisations and clubs who are doing good work within the local community - and St Michael’s Primary School is the perfect example.”

Our community fund is open to applicants in March and September. To apply, visit our Community Fund page and provide details about your cause, what it needs, and the difference the support might make to the organisation.
