Local scout and guide association receives boost from Morebus Community Fund

Branksome Scout groupMorebus is reinforcing its commitment to support local community organisations - by donating funds to Branksome St Aldhelm’s Scout and Guide Association to help renovate its meeting place.

Around 100 scouts and guides meet each week at the association’s building - The Den. And the building also plays host to several other community groups.

“We have been fundraising to replace our old, worn out, and now dangerous floor for the last few years,” said the scout group leader, Roger Thresh. “Sadly, we’ve also been targeted by several break-ins during the past 18 months - and the repair costs have knocked our fundraising target further out of reach.

“Morebus’ £200 donation has given us a welcome boost to our efforts - helping us to keep The Den open for the young people and community groups who use it each week."

Morebus general manager, Richard Wade, added: “This is an incredibly worthy cause, and an important local resource.

‘We always take a keen interest in local groups and organisations that are based in the areas where we operate, and we use our Community Fund to help them in any way we can. Without The Den, it would be incredibly difficult for these young people to meet - so we’re delighted to be lending our support.”

Our Community Fund is open for applications twice a year in March and September. We are currently considering applications for our next Community Fund, so make sure your application is in by the end of February to be considered.
