Supporting Brendoncare Dorset's Christmas fundraising campaign
3 months ago
A local charity, which supports older people living in Dorset, has received some festive assistance from Morebus.
The Brendoncare Foundation, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, provides in person and online community clubs, digital and telephone support for older people. This enables them to stay physically active, mentally stimulated, and socially connected. It also runs seven care homes across the south of England.
“We appreciate the challenges older people in Dorset face especially those who are living alone or feeling isolated,” said Mark Andrews, Brendoncare’s Head of Fundraising.
“The affordable, activity-led community clubs, and support services we provide ensure they never feel alone especially at this time of the year.”
He continues: “With Christmas approaching, we are running a fundraising campaign, The Big Give, to further support our community clubs and service - and a raffle is a part of this. During this campaign, which runs from 3rd to 10th December, any donations we receive will be doubled.
“We heard about Morebus’ community fund, so applied for some financial help. As a result, we were delighted to receive a donation that we shall put towards some prizes.
“I’d like to thank Morebus for contributing. It will go a long way to making this year’s Big Give campaign a successful one.”
Brendoncare offers services for older people living independently in Kinson, Moordown, Westbourne, West Moors, Wimborne, Ferndown and Blandford Forum.
Morebus general manager, Richard Wade, is pleased to be able to support the Christmas campaign: “Many of those living across the region are older members of our community, and Brendoncare provides some wonderful support to help ensure they are not socially-excluded,” he said.
“This is important to us too, because we believe our buses also help combat loneliness among older people - providing them with vital transport, so they can go about their daily lives. That’s why we’re pleased to be able to support Brendoncare through our community fund - and we wish them much success in their festive fundraising campaign.”
Our community fund is open twice a year to applications twice a year, in March and September. Click here to find out more, or apply to the next round.
