NOW CANCELLED due to the sad passing of Her Majesty the Queen - buses will operate normal routes
Dorset is welcoming The Tour of Britain this September. The Tour of Britain is a multi-stage cycling race, conducted on British roads, in which participants race across Great Britain to complete the race in the fastest time. The event dates back to the first British stage races held just after the Second World War.
Dorset will be welcoming the race on Saturday 10th September.
The race covers most of Dorset and will begin West Bay and end in Ferndown going across the county throughout the racing day. The race will go through Durdle Door, Lulworth, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Blandford, Wimborne, Verwood, West Moors and Ferndown with road closures and rolling road blocks in place across the day.
Ferndown High Street is the finishing line for the race and will be closed all day with routes 13 and X6 affected by this closure. The X6 will run directly along Ringwood Road between Tricketts Cross and Victoria Road Fire Station and the 13 will divert at Chapelgate Garage (Tesla/ Porsche) via Glenmoor Road to Ringwood Road then Church Road to Wimborne Road (in both directions).
Rolling road closures will be in place for routes 30, 31, 35, 40, 3, 4, 13 and X6 and Bournemouth network route 6. Details of the estimated times are:

The delays will be worst between 11am and 4pm, and the road closures will be rolling, meaning buses will be running to their route, just late if caught when the race is passing through. Allow time for resulting delays, and to use the real time tracking in the app when travelling.
