Sandbanks Ferry Closure - 50 diversion
Service on the Sandbanks Ferry has been suspended following a fracture of one of the main drive shafts. The latest update is that this closure is due to last until at least October as the ferry needs to be towed to Southampton for repairs.
A high summer version of a temporary timetable will be in place up to and including 31st August. From 1st September, a different temporary timetable will be in place until Saturday 21st September. If the ferry is still out of action after then, we will provide details of a temporary winter timetable beyond Sunday 22nd September nearer the time.
50 services will run up to half-hourly between Bournemouth Station and Swanage. The revised route will go as far as Sandbanks Pavilion before turning round and continuing the journey to Swanage via Poole. This is the same in both directions.
The following stops along the Sandbanks ‘one way’ loop will not be served by the 50:
- Panorama Road
- Banks Road
- Ferry Approach (all stops)
- Royal Motor Yacht Club
- St Nicholas Church
Customers wishing to use the stops above should connect at Sandbanks Pavilion with the Breezer 60 which will still run and serve them as normal.
Some journeys will still serve Studland Stores and Shell Bay Roundabout - please check the temporary timetable to make sure you board the correct bus.
Our other Purbeck Breezer services are not affected by the ferry closure and therefore scheduled to run as usual to their normal timetables. These are:
- Breezer 30 - Weymouth to Swanage via Lulworth Cove
- Breezer 40 - Poole to Swanage via Wareham and Corfe Castle
- Breezer 60 - Rockley Park to Sandbanks via Poole
- Breezer 70 - Poole to Bournemouth via Alum Chine
We greatly apologise for any disruption to your journey. We remain committed to providing a regular bus service to Swanage and the Jurassic Coast.
